What to Wear on a Winter Tour of Richmond

5 February 2026

Richmond - our little corner of London - is just beautiful to walk around in the winter. In the crisp air, the river flows serenely, the cafes look cosy, and the independent shops offer a welcoming escape from the cold. There are also plenty of attractions to explore: Richmond is where Ted Lasso is filmed, and you can take a tour of the locations seen in the popular TV Series. Or read our insider’s guide to the top 10 things to see and do in Richmond.

Of course, while you're strolling, shopping, and admiring the sights, you’ll want to look your best in a fantastic winter outfit. Here are a couple of choices that we know you’ll just love.

Playful Sophistication

Our first outfit is a sophisticated yet playful style that’s perfect for a day of retail shopping, plus the occasional coffee break in one of Richmond’s wonderful cafes.

Start by popping on a pair of versatile Cindy jeans from Paige - we like the mid-blue Soleil that go with anything. On top, the baby pink and cream striped Domette cardigan from Des Petits Hauts is just adorable - full of fun and charm. It adds a bright burst of colour to the winter months and you can wear it either on its own or over a thin t-shirt if you feel the cold and need an extra layer.

As you’ll be walking quite a lot, you’ll want something comfy on your feet, so we recommend BA&SH’s crew trainers with a splash of leopard print - the go-to pattern this season.

Finally, add your outer layers: RAILS Clothing’s Everest coat in a beautiful charcoal grey. The wool blend will keep you lovely and warm while the slightly oversized fit leaves plenty of room for layering beneath. It also has notched lapels, deep pockets, and a single-button closure with a horn button.

Finally, if it’s an extra cold day, throw on The Wrap from 360 Cashmere. This luxury piece comes in black and blue, and can be worn as either a wrap or a wide scarf. It’s made of 100% cashmere, too, so you know it will feel absolutely wonderful.

Casual Country Chic

Our second outfit brings country-cool to the city and is a great option if you’re on your feet all day touring the many fabulous sites of Richmond.

The first item is the deep Duchess blue Sasha 34 jeans by Paige. These are the perfect high rise with a flattering stretch denim and a wide leg. They’re made of Paige’s famous vintage denim, giving you the benefit of a comfy feel with a vintage look.

Jumper 1234 is bringing the sunshine to this outfit with their Stripe crew jumper in primrose yellow and cream. The long sleeved crew neck is made from 100% cashmere so is both light and warm - ideal for layering. It’s also available in lilac and navy if you prefer a different colour palette.

Of course, you’ll also need comfy shoes, so slip on another pair of BA&SH’s Crew trainers, this time in a deep country green with a brown contrasting sole. These lace-up trainers are made of 100% leather and have a flat heel so are perfect for longer winter walks.

Make sure to wrap up warm as you step outside with the Beadnell wax jacket in sage. This Barbour piece epitomises the “country cool” look but still manages to look totally at home in the heart of the city. The modern waxed jacket has a regular fit, with an exaggerated cord collar, multiple pockets and a contrasting tartan lining.

Add a final touch with a bit of sparkle in the shape of the Reine necklace by Mimi Et Toi. This delicate gold-plated chain features a tactile stone pendant in earthy tones that will finish off your outfit nicely.
