Richmond-upon-Thames in London is as an ideal destination for a day trip or a short break. The town has a diverse range of attractions, including a vibrant shopping scene, delectable dining options and luxury accommodation. And, as if that's not enough, it also holds the allure of being a filming location for the popular TV series Ted Lasso. Whether you’re a fan of the show or simply seeking a delightful experience, Richmond, London has something for everyone!

RICHMOND's RESTAURANT SCENE

The Peggy Jean is a restored former Jesus College Oxford barge and enjoys views of the Thames, Richmond Bridge and the riverside. It has a relaxed Aussie beach club vibe and is part of the Daisy Green brand, which is known for its unique and laid-back venues.

Scott's Richmond serves up delicious seafood and shellfish dishes alongside fine wines and Champagne and has a gorgeous al fresco terrace with riverside views. Originally launched in Mayfair, Richmond is the second location for this destination restaurant. There's even a set lunch menu and live jazz on Wednesdays!

The Ivy Richmond Brasserie offers all-day relaxed dining with classic British dishes. The Ivy brand has been on London's dining and social scene since 1917 and the Richmond location is as sophisticated as its other venues.

Sebastian's Italian is just two doors up from Feather & Stitch and serves a wide range of home cooked true Italian dishes, with covered outdoor seating available to enjoy on those warmer afternoons and evenings.

No 1a Duke Street is a contemporary eatery with creative cocktails, beer and local cuisine, including vegetarian options. The independent eatery is a gorgeous place to relax with friends over a coffee, a nightcap, and everything in between.

LUXURY HOTELS

Richmond Hill is a Georgian destination hotel perched on a hilltop and moments away from the world famous Royal Richmond Park. Inside you'll find stylish bedrooms, an intimate treatment room, a 24-hour gym, an award-winning restaurant and bar, and a seasonal outdoor terrace.

Richmond Harbour is another luxury hotel also situated at the top of Richmond Hill. An 18th-century Georgian property, it has been previously named as one of the 100 Best British Hotels by the Sunday Times for its park-side location, high-end luxury spa and buzzy neighbourhood.

SHOPS IN RICHMOND

Richmond's shopping experience offers something for everyone. After you've popped into our very own Feather & Stitch boutique for some luxury Scandi and European ladies designer clothing, continue your retail therapy at some of local favourites:

Alexis Amor is an eyewear shop located close to Feather & Stitch on King Street and is popular with celebrities.

Sporting Feet is also on King Street and is a much loved independent sports footwear retailer.

Aesop is an Australian company known for high-end skincare products and gift kits, plus home and body fragrances. Another King Street favourite!

Bridge and Hill Livingstore offers plants, contemporary home décor and furniture. Their minimalist style promises clean lines and a stylish aesthetic. They also have a café where you can rest your feet after all of that shopping.

The Open Book is an independent bookshop that has been in Richmond since 1987. Though it appears small from the outside, it's a veritable Tardis once you step through the front door. Books can be ordered as well as browsed.

TED LASSO FILMING LOCATIONS

If you're a fan of the sports comedy-drama, no trip to Richmond-upon-Thames would be complete without touring some of the locations that feature in the series.

Paved Court is a characterful narrow lane off Richmond Green, full of early Georgian shops and houses. It was used as the location of Ted Lasso's apartment.

The Green has been described as "one of the most beautiful urban greens surviving anywhere in England". It's roughly square in shape, covers around 12 acres, and features open grassland framed by broadleaf trees. You can spot it in many Ted Lasso episodes as the location of Ted's 'thinking' bench.

The Prince's Head, situated on Richmond Green, acted as the Crown & Anchor pub in the series.

Roy and Keeley enjoyed their first date in a romantic spot on the towpath, which runs alongside the Thames river. You can follow it all the way to Richmond Park.

OTHER RICHMOND HIGHLIGHTS

The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew are perhaps the most famous attraction that Richmond has to offer. They're a delight for everyone to see, even if you're not an avid gardener.

No trip to Richmond-upon-Thames would be complete without a wander up Richmond Hill to see the view. A visit to Richmond Rugby is also a must for any sports fan - the club is a founding member of the Rugby Football Union and is one of the oldest football clubs.
