Here are our top 15 summer dresses for under £199 this season from some of our favourite Belgian, French, Scandi and British brands:
From our favourite French brand that never fail to deliver an oh-so-wearable summer dress, I suggest the cheesecloth sleeveless Rubinata Dress in either the stunning saffron yellow or easy to throw on black. With its laced detail this semi plain style fits fabulously and is a clever long midi length. I’ve got my eye on the black, but if I could wear yellow I would!
For a really great price point, why not try the Hanita, 100% linen midi sun dress which can be dressed up with jewellery or elevate it with your choice of footwear. You can never go wrong with a black sundress.
Pink City Prints
From our favourite organic cotton print brand Pink City Prints I suggest three dresses, each doing slightly different things.
Firstly, the Athens sun dress in its oh so easy white and blue print with its tie shoulders is the perfect combination of feminine and print design.
For a short sleeve slightly brighter long midi dress the Evelyn is stunning with its green and coral block print. It has an interesting square neck and looks rather elegant on.
The Melanie dress is a dead cert in a beautiful two tone white and chambre blue. There really is nothing not to like with its v neck, ¾ length sleeves and concealed self-tie waist from this fabulous British brand.
You really can’t go wrong with a Pink City Prints summer dress and we’re always really excited when the stock arrives. The great thing is they can be washed on cold in the machine. So really nothing not to like!
Essentiel Antwerp
Our favourite colourful brand of the season is Essentiel Antwerp, the Belgian fashionista brand. Their Divorce Slip Dress is oh-so-sexy as it clings in the right places, its adjustable skinny straps means you can wear it with a bra and it’s fully lined. It has a cheeky side slit which makes it easy to walk and can be worn with an MDK Seattle leather biker jacket on cooler evenings. I‘ve definitely got my eye on this one but which colour to choose, the black and the green are both showstoppers!
MABE
A fabulous summer brand which I can always rely on is the brand MABE and this season we have chosen the Joss maxi sundress at £155 as one of our favourite styles. With its ditsy floral print and shoulder ties this is the perfect style to keep you cool and give off those boho summer vibes.
Stella Nova
Next up, if you’re looking for a dressier style for under £199 then look no further than the Stella Nova Tyra My Dress which was featured in The Telegraph fashion pages on 22nd April as a great investment dress for the summer – we totally agree! It’s a striking pink and black print on a shiny base. They did a similar shape last summer and it was a sellout. I think they’ve gone another winning print in Spring Summer 2023. This can easily be worn with a black Gestuz blazer or an MDK Leather jacket. This Scandi brand is proving very popular.
Hartford
Our next dress for under £199 is from the French brand Hartford who have produced a fabulous 100% cotton Roma Dress in three different colours. But be quick because these are selling fast as they are £169. With their cap sleeve, pockets, and square neck and loose body, they’re such an easy throw on. However, I’d say be careful if you have a larger bust. They are shown here not belted but can easily be belted.
Dea Kudibal
Onto one of our favourite Danish brands Dea Kudibal has got some great throw on £199 Kamille dresses, one in a canary geometric print, one in a very colourful print called flora magnet. Both of these look great on pretty much all body shapes, and particularly if you’re a brunette. It’s made with 3% elastane so you could go down a size in the fit. It has the typical scandi styling of a lower back hem and an easy stand collar which goes into a v-neck and a ¾ length sleeve. This is tried and tested and we have other colourways in silk which are online as well, but at a higher price.
Leon & Harper
Finally finishing with a French brand Leon & Harper, why not try the Rizi green dress as an easy cotton thrown on. This relaxed bohemian French style would be perfect for the city or holidays. It comes in two colourways.
