We love 8am til 8pm day to night dresses at Feather & Stitch. This is in our DNA and what we mean by this is a dress that you can put on for going on the train in a pair of trainers or for going on the school run that will then take you out to dinner at a bar or pub in the evening or dinner with friends. These dresses are investment pieces for the season and will form the backbone to your summer wardrobe. Here are some of our favourites:
First up is the Essentiel Dazzers Cape Midi Dress in an almost neon pink. It’s on a textured base with a soft sleeve down to the elbow. It is fully lined and looks amazing with a white trainer or pop it on with an open toe heel or Grecian sandal. This is a real showstopper, and the colour is incredible. It’s from one of our favourite and best brands, Essentiel Antwerp. It’s bang on trend with its open back without showing too much flesh as it has a clever cape so you’re not exposing the whole of your back. See the picture for a clear understanding. It’s one of those colours that makes you look more tanned than you actually are!
Next up is the Hofmann Copenhagen Berenice dress, this is a favourite shape of ours and this time it comes in a fabulous soft plush pink textured base with beautiful blue, green, coral, and lilac flowers, which is oh so feminine. It’s got a slight V, a set-in sleeve with dramatic frills on the shoulder, a tiered effect and a self-tie belt which is concealed. This is definitely going onto my wish list. Like the previous dress you can wear this with a trainer, a Grecian sandal, or an open toe heel. If you’re going to invest in a summer dress, hardly anyone stocks this one in the UK so you’re not likely to bump into your neighbour in the same dress! This would also be perfect for sports days, café lunches, date nights and gets a 5-star rating from me. I would suggest sizing down.
The Dexico Midi Dress in black from Essentiel Antwerp with a stunning placement flower is my third recommendation as a fantastic day to night dress style. It’s a real showstopper and unusual with its oversized flower on the chest and its colourful hem. With its relaxed neck, concealed side pockets, kimono style sleeves and pull-me-in tie waist it’s the perfect style for going anywhere and doing anything whilst wearing either a trainer, sandal or heel. I would suggest throwing this on with an MDK Seattle leather jacket on cooler evenings.
Sticking with Essentiel Antwerp, one of our go-to dress brands of the season, I suggest the striking animal print shirt dress called Discord. This print has been so popular in a top and trouser set, but as the weather warms up this dress is really going to fly. With its great length just below the knee, side pockets and ¾ length sleeve, there’s really nothing not to like as leopard print is always on trend! It has a self tie belt, but you could easily swap it for a wider leather belt. I can imagine this on a summers evening at the pub or at a barbecue. Again, pretty much all footwear goes, especially black or metallic which will complement the print beautifully.
Last but not least, why not try one of the Abelone cotton long midi dresses from Dea Kudibal with its Victorian puff shoulder, v neck, ¾ length sleeve and self-tie belt. It really is rather flattering and this particular print the Jardin Sky is wonderfully fresh with its turquoises and corals. I personally have this one myself and have worn it a lot.
