Our favourite Scandi print dresses

August 2022

These print dresses from some of our favourite Danish designers - Dea Kudibal, Munthe, Stine Goya and Stella Nova - are perfect for now as day to night, work or wedding guest dresses and will see you well into the autumn. Here are our top picks.

Dea Kudibal

Dea Kudibal, with her viscose stretch fabrication, is a queen of Danish dresses because they’re so easy to wear, affordable, and come in fantastic prints. A great example is the Adina in the Elipse Space print (£219). This fabulous nod-to-the-sixties print comes in a very wearable petrol blue with black, beige and cream. It’s belted, which is very flattering, and it’s a midi length. It can be worn with a variety of footwear, from trainers to heels to ankle boots. If the blue print isn’t for you, it also comes in a very pretty paisley which is all soft greys and lilacs. What’s wonderful about this fabrication which is 95% viscose and 5% elastane is it’s so easy to wear, soft and we really rate it.

If you want a slightly looser silhouette, then the Rosanna dress (£189) is easy to wear and super stylish. The beauty of this dress is it has pockets and it’s looser around the stomach. You may want to go down a size but it comes in 2 great prints – the Ozelot Beetle which is a khaki print and will see you through at least 6 months – or the Challis Fonte which is selling fast. I would open up a few buttons, it has ¾ length sleeves and looks great with a variety of footwear. For example, you could wear it with Veja trainers Venturi Alveomesh in White (£140) or boots.

All these dresses look great with the MDK Seattle Thin jacket.

If you like navy and pink, a pretty dress to consider is the Nolia (£199). It’s down to your print preference as they all fit brilliantly. It’s a hard choice and there’s no surprise that people are buying two Dea Kudibal dresses at a time!

Munthe

Two very different dresses from Munthe, she always produces a standout dress. So you have the choice between the Anage (£299), which comes in 2 colours (rose and blue). It’s above the knee, with an open drawstring back. The beauty of this dress is that you can still wear a bra. It’s a contemporary shape with a frill sleeve and will bring you right up to date with the silhouette. Great for the autumn.

The Vatrine comes in two colours – white and black print – and the beauty of this dress (£269) is that it sits below the knee and has a sleeve that finishes around the elbow, which is very flattering. It has metallic abstract dots within the print - a mini animal print with silver within the black print and gold within the white print - which gives it an elevated look. What’s really wonderful about this dress is that the back has got two slightly open panels, but you can wear it with a bra, so again it’s a modern silhouette, but you can wear it in a practical way.

Munthe always does a knockout print and these are two great ones for the season that we really recommend. Both can be worn with a variety of footwear, from Veja trainers to black ankle boots to a heel, depending on your occasion. That’s the beauty of a Munthe dress, they’re very versatile!

Stine Goya

Stine Goya always produces a great dress, and she’s kicked off this season with a fabulous little wrap dress called Rania (£310) in a lovely black base with an orange multicoloured print. It’s above the knee on most people, has a slightly shiny fabric and a long sleeve with elastic that can be pushed up. It can be worn now at the start of the season with bare legs and Veja trainers or a heel if you’re going to a smart event. Alternatively, you can wear it with tights and a black roll neck like the Day Birger Sierra and a pair of black ankle boots in the cooler months. It would be great for an autumn wedding.

STELLA NOVA

Stella Nova has produced some lovely styles to kick off the autumn season. These are two very different dresses. The Line Joe dress (£189) is a great day to night and party dress with a pink bubble gum lips print that will really make you stand out from the crowd. It’s above the knee but can be worn now with bare legs and trainers or with black tights and ankle boots to the Christmas party. It’s for all busts because it has a placate down the front which means if you have a bigger bust it’s more versatile because you can open it up into more a ‘v’. It also has an elastic cuff which is very flattering and you can push up to your elbow if you so wish. A great little fun and quirky dress and there’s nothing not to like. It’s not fitted so it’s flattering.

The Esther dress (£279) from Stella Nova is a midi length gingham, 100% cotton, and has an elasticated cuff that you can push up. It looks good on all shapes, but especially if you’re on the taller side, and has a dramatic frill. Perfect for going to the office, for day events and is a little nod to the Little House on the Prairie look, a real fashionista shape and typical of Stella Nova. It does have an opening at the neck and two drawstrings at the front.
