How to Dress Like a Parisian

7 August 2025

Ah Paris, the home of elegant and sophisticated style. For decades the fashion world has looked towards the French city for inspiration, and to this day we love the timeless appeal of Parisian chic.

The key to dressing like a Parisian is to pick a single statement piece and then build your outfit around it, with an emphasis on versatile, high-quality items. With that in mind, we’ve curated some beautiful Paris-inspired outfits from our French designers that are sure to make you cry, “ooh, lah lah!”

Rusty tones

Yamanon coat by Des Petits Hauts

A statement coat

Starting our first outfit with the must-have statement piece, let us present the Yamanon coat. This incredible check coat by French brand Des Petits Hauts is a rusty blend of all the shades that are in-style this season. Its full length, deep pockets and oversized fit is definitely Parisian-cool.

We’ve worked with Des Petits Hauts for over 10 years, so we know how great their pieces are. Crafted from Italian cloth, the quality is unrivalled.

A feminine blouse

Though it works well with a jumper, too, we love to pair our statement jacket with a feminine blouse like the Soto blouse, also by Des Petits Hauts. The delicate tone-on-tone ruffles, pearly buttons and deep v-neck provide a great contrast to your outerwear and bring some delightful elegance to this outfit. It’s also a beautiful burgundy - the colour of the season.

Versatile jeans

Responding to the need for versatility in a Parisian wardrobe, we’ve picked out a great pair of jeans that will work beautifully with this outfit and others. High-rise with a wide length, Paige’s Sasha ankle cuff jean is a trendy chocolate colour with a stand-out wide-cuffed hem. Wear a pair of ballet pumps with them for a fabulous casual look.

Accessorise

No outfit is complete without some well-chosen accessories and we love the unusual Scaramouche earrings by artisan French brand Gas Bijoux. The scarab beetle is the oldest lucky charm in the world and you can add it to your outfit with these gold earrings. Alternatively, adorn your neck with the delicate Perla necklace.

Over-the-shoulder jumper

Last but not least, add an extra layer of casual charm to this outfit with the luxe Barette jumper draped over your shoulders on top of your coat. The light wool jumper in a timeless beige is an extra layer that perfectly tops off this beautifully effortless style.

Contrast queen

Aley skirt by BA&SH

A statement skirt

The eye-catching Aley skirt is a great take on the popular leopard print with its taupe base and impactful black print. Light and swishy, this feminine skirt is asymmetrical with a gathered look that adds loads of interest. This piece is from designer BA&SH, a French duo who are growing globally and who are known for their feminine and sexy pieces - just like this statement skirt!

The soft knit

With such a bold print on the skirt you want to help it pop with plainer contrasting pieces. Black, of course, is a go-to Parisian colour, and matches well with the skirt’s print pattern. BA&SH’s Philo jumper, then, is the ideal choice. The cropped jumper has short sleeves and subtle detailing and will take you through summer and into autumn.

A stylish jacket

Layer your black with the Meredith jacket, a cropped button-down piece that’s full of sophistication. Gold-tone buttons add some sparkle to your outfit and the slightly vintage feel is quintessential Parisienne.

The final touch

Parisian style is all about knowing how to accessorise, so this might be the most important part of your outfit. We’ve opted for an ongoing noir theme with the beautiful compact Sign bag, which has a detachable shoulder strap and a gold BA&SH emblem on the front.

Top it all off with the Duality bracelet by artisan jewellers Gas Bijoux. The beautiful gold-plated bangle features two crystal lucky charm beetles.
